St. Augustine is said to have taught that the person who sings prays twice. We take that to heart.
At The Good Shepherd, music is central to our life together. Under the direction of Mary K. Walley, our musicians beautify and enliven worship every Sunday. We offer many ways to make a joyful noise!
The Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is taking a break during the COVID-19 outbreak. Many Chancel Choir singers are lending their talents to the Virtual Choir each week.
The Good Shepherd Chancel Choir provides worship leadership and special music each Sunday of the church year. Membership is open to anyone who loves to sing – no audition is required. It’s helpful if you can read music, but we all start somewhere and we enjoy growing together as musicians.
The Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00.
The Bell Choir
The Bell Choir is rehearsing with social distancing precautions during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Our ringers perform on three octaves of Schulmerich handbells and chimes, and showcase their talents performing solos and duets and using our bell tree. Membership is open to anyone who is willing to learn these unique instruments. Some ability to read music is required, but again, we all start somewhere! We’ll help you grow into a ringer.
The Bell Choir rehearses Tuesday evenings at 7:00.
The Virtual Choir
Beginning in the summer of 2020, the Good Shepherd Virtual Choir has provided hymns and anthems safely and beautifully. They have been the musical voice of the congregation during this season when we can’t sing together in person. Most of our singers are members of the Chancel Choir, but because of the distributed nature of virtual musicmaking, we’re able to welcome singers who might not normally be able to join us in person for rehearsals or at worship. Anyone is welcome to contribute to a piece – just once, or every week – there’s no ongoing rehearsal to attend. Virtual Choir members must be able to record and submit video of themselves, and be confident in their parts to sing with just an accompaniment recording. But it’s easier than it sounds, and our pastor is a geek who will help you out!

Solos and Small Ensembles
Throughout the year, in-person and virtually, our musicians share their gifts with a variety of solos and small ensembles. It’s a great way for you to make music even if you’re unable to fit a regular rehearsal into your calendar!
Musicians Page
To help coordinate our musical efforts, we’ve established a page just for our musicians. It’s got upcoming schedules, downloadable accompaniment and rehearsal tracks, performance notes and more. Click here to access our Musicians Page!
