The Council updated the congregation following the worship service on Sunday, April 5th of the following information regarding the transition.
Property Sale – While we have not received a formal notice from the buyer of our property, we have been informed that they will be looking to schedule a closing date in the very near future. A closing date will need to be negotiated between the parties and we will keep you informed as new information becomes available.
New Home for GSLC – The Council announced that there will be two congregational meetings in the next two weeks re: our new location;
- Congregational Information Meeting on Sunday, April 12th after the worship service. At this meeting the Council will share information re: their recommendation to lease space for worship, office, classroom, meeting and fellowship at a local non-Lutheran Church in Monroeville.
- Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, April 19th after the worship service to vote on the motion that the Council will make to lease the space identified above.
A fact sheet is being prepared and will be sent to all members of record this week with more details about the arrangements. Copies will also be available at the meeting on the 12th.
There are many details to be worked out, and it is likely our members and friends will have many questions regarding the arrangements. There will be a Q&A at the Informational Meeting. The lease would be for facilities and space; we would continue to maintain our own programs, worship and identity as an ELCA Lutheran Church in Monroeville.
Please watch for more information in the coming days and weeks!
