As our church family continues the exciting work of transitioning to our new location, we will be pausing our annual Vacation Bible School this summer. After much discussion, the Education Committee members have decided to forego a week-long VBS for summer 2026. We considered either holding it at our current location or Garden City UMC and for a variety of reasons, decided we would be better off pausing on a full VBS program for this year and planning to resume in 2027 when we expect to be fully operational at our new location.
The Ed Committee and Sunday School families are planning a VBS Express for our Sunday School children sometime over the summer in lieu of a 2026 VBS program. While we will miss this special week of learning, laughter, and faith‑building, we are already looking forward to welcoming our community participants back next year—refreshed, renewed, and ready to celebrate VBS in our new home. Thank you for your understanding and for your continued prayers during this season of change.

As we continue the efforts to determine what items – big and small – will be moving with us the Garden City location, we have heard from some members who are interested in repurposing some of our things in their own homes or other places. If you are interested in any items; including but not limited to pews, padded chairs, plastic chairs, Bibles, hymnals, larger décor), please submit your request in writing to Donna Wenger in the church office. Donna will log all requests including the date received. As items become available (meaning a decision has been made not to move it with us and the item(s) haven’t been donated to another church), they will then be distributed on a first come, first come, first served basis.
Please join us on Sunday, May 24th when we will celebrate Pentecost at our 10:30 am worship service. We celebrate Pentecost in remembrance of the Holy Spirit descending like a dove filling the Church with power and adding 3,000 new believers! Join us in this special worship service and don’t forget to wear red!

We are pleased to report that the congregation of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church has agreed to begin to formally negotiate a leasing agreement for our new home with the Garden City United Methodist Church. This decision was reached as a result of a vote taken at our Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, April 19th in which the motion presented by the Council to move to the Garden City location was approved by a vote of 38 to 10.
The Transition Coordination Team is continuing to work with our volunteers to implement the plan for vacating our current property, the disposition of all things that will not be needed in the new space and the packing/moving of items that will go with us to our new home.
The Congregational Council has also determined in their meeting last evening, which space would be our preferred proprietary space at Garden City. The council selected “Option 1”. While not everyone has had a chance to see the space, you may find reference to it on the video tour that was made available last week. We are grateful to the people of the Garden City United Methodist Church for their graciousness and generosity during our consideration of the options.
There are many details to be worked out including the planning of our closing worship service at our current location and our physical move into the new one. At this time, no date has been set. We will continue to keep you informed as new information becomes available.
This has been quite a journey for our congregation – both leaders and members – and there is still much to be done! We are grateful for everyone’s continued support of our church, and we look forward to walking together in this next step of our faith life.
