As covid levels have fallen, Allegheny County’s risk status has been downgraded to “Very High.” That means we’re able to return to in-person events and worship effective immediately. Masks and distancing will still be required while in the building. Vaccination are strongly encouraged but not required. Our livestream will continue to be offered every week on Zoom and YouTube. See you on Sunday!

Dear Good Shepherd Lutheran, We believe that we saw your sign in front advising passers-by that Allegheny County has an orange level with respect to COVID risk. In contrast, the CDC website now shows that Allegheny County has a green level. Please check the CDC website to resolve this for yourself. If you find this to be the case for yourself, please make the change. If you have already made this change, you may certainly disregard this e-mail. Thank you.
Hi, Wallace – thanks for writing! Since the pandemic began, our council has used Covid Act Now as our key source of trends and statistics. Our policy is keyed to the different color risk levels they’ve established. You’re correct that CDC has released a new tool for assessing risk, and that CDC’s tool designates Allegheny County “green” at the moment. Since we’ve found the Covid Act Now system to be clear and reliable so far, we’re not moving right away to make any changes to our policy. If we shift to using the CDC tool, I imagine that would find a home on our sign, too. Hope that clears things up a little. It’s always hard when there are different systems that slice and dice the data in different ways!
